11th November 2020 Remembrance Day
Today we marked Armistice Day, also known as Remembrance Day. It marks the day World War One ended, at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1918. We take the opportunity to teach the children about the history of this day and the importance of the work done and sacrifices made by service men and women both throughout history and today. Year 4 visited the village cenotaph earlier in the day and laid a wreath on behalf of us all at RCFS. Year 2 decorated remembrance lanterns that lit up the courtyard. The whole school took part in a 2 minute silence at 11am and we raised our remembrance flag. Rev. Farrington led us in a special, socially distanced, outdoor ceremony. The children were super, showing a real sense of occasion and understanding.
