Rugby Success, April 2019

Well done to our year 4 Rugby team, pictured above who came second in the Rugby Competition held at Robert Sutton in Burton. Each and everyone one of the team played well and during the round stages won every match with ease.
The semi-final could have gone either way but they dug deep, worked well as a team and won the match 6-4 with player of the match Lottie Graney scoring four of the 6 tries, here she is getting her medal, leading the team through.
The final was a very close match against Picknalls but it just wasn’t to be, losing 5-4.
Great defending of the line by Henry Tomlison, Emma Griggs, Alfie Bassett, Oliver Nichols and Taylor Cooke, brilliant driving forward to score tries, Lottie Graney being the top try scorer, with Sam Law, Charlie Love, Izzy Barnes and Xander Cole scoring too. Lucy Wells and Ewan Hutsby provided excellent support in centre roles connecting with them to drive towards the try line. I couldn’t be more proud of each and everyone of them.
Mr Tolley said it was the best that he had seen them play. Such commitment from all team members was outstanding, particularly from Izzy Barnes who stayed to play all the matches before heading off late to a prior engagement, so sorry Mr Barnes!
