Children In Need November 2020

11th November 2020 Remembrance Day

Today we marked Armistice Day, also known as Remembrance Day. It marks the day World War One ended, at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1918.  We take the opportunity to teach the children about the history of this day and the importance of the work done and sacrifices made by service men and women both throughout history and today.  Year 4 visited the village cenotaph earlier in the day and laid a wreath on behalf of us all at RCFS.  Year 2 decorated remembrance lanterns that lit up the courtyard.  The whole school took part in a 2 minute silence at 11am and we raised our remembrance flag.  Rev. Farrington led us in a special, socially distanced, outdoor ceremony.  The children were super, showing a real sense of occasion and understanding.

End of half term trick or treat? October 2020

As we were unable to have our usual halloween disco and other seasonal events we decided to end the half term with a halloween themed day!  The PTFA set up a ‘Count the Ghost’ trail around the school grounds, we had tricks and treats in the classroom, made up of games, decorate a pumpkin competition and of course, some sweeties.  We also had a no uniform day, and many children enjoyed dressing up!  The costumes were fab!

Well done all, it was a lovely way to end the half term! Thank you to all who supported.

Sometimes you just have to put on the hat to show them who they’re dealing with!

Harvest Celebration 2020

We had to do things differently this year due to the current restrictions, so our normal Harvest Festival couldn’t go ahead.  Instead we had a special on-line assembly with Rev Davis, who talked to the children about the reasons for harvest festivals at this special time of year.  All the classes gave thanks to all the people who work in the food chain.

We also made our usual collection for the Rugeley Food Bank and Dave Webb (the Foodbank manager), came to collect the wonderful donations.

Thank you to all who made donations to help those families who might be struggling at the moment during these tough times.
