School Uniform
There is no formal uniform at The Richard Clarke First School. The colour scheme is optional in line with LA Policy.
(Note: It is not the policy of the Local Authority to make compulsory the wearing of any distinctive clothing or uniform; but all pupils are required to attend school appropriately dressed and for the assistance of parents many schools have adopted guidelines on dress.)
The School has chosen to adopt the following colour scheme:
- Red sweatshirt (crew or V), cardigan, jumper (all with or without school logo)
- Grey/black skirts or trousers; Red/white summer dresses
- Red or white polo shirts or white shirts/blouses
- Dark school shoes; plain socks; plain tights in red, grey or black
- Red school bags with logo are available to purchase if desired
- All accessories (bows/bobbles/headbands) should be school colours and small/discrete
Other items which will be required:
- Swimming Kit for summer term (tunks/swim suit, towel, dressing gown/warm wrap, flip flops or equivalent)
- Indoor PE Kit in school colours (shorts/t-shirt, with clean, lightweight trainers, not pumps)
- Outdoor PE Kit in school colours (as above plus warmer clothes like leggings/tracksuit bottoms, sweatshirt or hoodie, with outdoor trainers)
- Wellies and playsuits for outdoor play (Reception class only)
All items of clothing should be clearly marked with the child’s full name (not initials).
Please note: Boots are not part of school uniform, school shoes should be worn in school at all times. If children need to wear boots on their walk to school, then they can change into school shoes on arrival. (This is recommended in bad weather/snow). Shoes should be comfortable and suitable for outdoor play.
Jewellery should be a minimal, small and discrete and is worn at your own risk of loss, breakage, or accidental damage/injury. If children have pierced ears, only small studs allowed and these must be removed for PE. NO SMART WATCHES ALLOWED.
Coats: Please ensure your children ALWAYS have a suitable outdoor coat, as we try to play/learn outside as much as possible. This means a light rain coat for the warmer months and a warm coat for the winter. We also recommend a sun hat in the summer and wooly hat/gloves/scarf for the winter.
Thank you.
